So over #Easter I was back into #family #sysadmin mode.

In my story board: updating a relatively new laptop to Win11*.

Result: It took four full days and from your favorite "try these 25 things to make your Win 11 upgrade unstuck" I had to resort to ALL of the steps:

* I worked fiercely to be allowed to install #Linux ofc, but there you go...

/cont

* Free up space on the main partition because apparently it wasn't able to download neither to /tmp nor to /defaults/profile/Downloads.

* Repair some system files that had been broken since last March due to a reboot-loop upgrade failed.

* Switch over to wired LAN because apparently WiFi 6 was too slow or whatever[1].

* Hard-blocked Onedrive service because it would restart the download process - the user has no account there.

[1] I tested the WiFi connection and it was at 1170 Mbit/s.

I kid you not, for a company that wants you to believe #Win11 is the best thing apart from #AI having a f*** computer science prof take a full Easter holiday is such a hilariously bad record even if you discount that my Windows proficiency is becoming ever more limited.
@ftranschel Currently doing the same. Much swearing every time I try and open anything. OneDrive integration might actually be worse than Copilot, but it's close. Thankfully, have got laptops converted to Linux, so baby steps.
