Ran the numbers for my first 13 months of jobseeking. Every time I apply for a job, there is a 6% chance that I get an interview. The chance that I get a job is 0%.
But the data has some clear patterning. If the job is at a museum, I get an interview in 29% of the cases, but here too a job in 0% of cases.
That's a very kind offer, but the problem is not my interview skills. It's the drastic mismatch between my qualifications and the labour market's demand.
I'm pretty much unbeatable for only two jobs, both of them exceedingly rare: archaeology professor (but you get hired for these on the buddy system) and scientific editor (but this job is usually done for no pay by a university professor).
