I really, really hate this whole AI thing. As far as I am concerned it is simply not fit for purpose. And yet we carry on trying to force the square peg into the round hole.

What happened to our smarts as an industry?

@thirstybear the purpose is extracting profits and distracting from capitalist crisis and it's doing a damn good job.
@rhold Sadly that's about right. And it's a recurring pattern we keep falling for
@thirstybear our industry was historically prone to bonkers CEO mandates. Web3, NFTs, meta verse, return to office, and blanket IR35 categorisations. If there was a scent of fresh hype in the air, tech execs would be first to get on the train without much smartness.
@RakowskiBartosz You're not wrong. Was discussing it earlier with some friends - unfortunately it provides breathing space (for strategic failures and bad decisions. But it is driving me nuts. I’m obviously reaching an age where I have become a programming GOD - Grumpy Old Developer. (Joking apart, retirement and sticking two fingers up at the current madness is looking increasingly attractive rather than fighting the same old battles. If I could find a 3-day/week gig, I'd jump at it)
