Wild garlic in flower near Brentor last weekend, #Dartmoor, #Devon. #photography
@Rachelburch a photo you can smell. I can't wait for it to flower up here, we seem to be a week or two behind you normally :)
@Rachelburch Oh! I didn't know the english name. Thanks :)
In french we call it ail des ours — bears' garlic.
🐻
@elytres @Rachelburch Bärlauch in German, something like bear-leek (bear-lic). Dasluik in Dutch, meaning badger-leek (lic).
In English, also called ramsons.
@Rachelburch that's much earlier than around here in southern Germany. Partly continental climate, apparently.

Oooh... wild garlic and cheese sandwiches...

Which part do you use? The leaves?

@grb090423 @SJAsh_03 normally the leaves flowers are edible too. People make pesto out of the leaves and garnish dishes with the flowers.

Thanks so much! Going to keep my eyes open for it 🙂👍

I tend to put leaves in sandwiches and use flowers as a salad garnish.
