Fuck Kanye West coming back to the mainstream after everything

@ErikUden Is Kanye West actually coming back to the mainstream or is the mainstream happily having Kanye West again?

Says more about the mainstream than Kanye, methinks.

@ErikUden Can I see that alleged cancel culture supposedly ruining the lives of innocent men again?

@ErikUden

I'm actually... actually kinda willing to accept it?

Like, he said words to the effect of "I apologise, I don't want to be a Nazi any more, I want to be a decent person now," which is:

A) Grossly insufficient

B) Too late

C) Way better than 99% of people out there

D) Against his own self-interests, given that Nazis are currently doing pretty well

E) If it's sincerely meant (and with West almost everything is sincere in the moment but may not remain true when his mood shifts) then it represents a decline in the number of Nazis in the world, which is a good thing

@ErikUden

Accepting the surrender of fascists is a good thing and should have a low bar, in my opinion, otherwise fascists won't surrender; and encouraging your enemies to fight to the death is poor tactical sense.

(Not a zero bar obviously, they actually need to stop doing fascist shit, you cannot trust someone whose current actions are still in contradiction to their claimed repentance)

But to put it in context, West is doing better than Olaf Scholz, and I don't know which of the two that's a bigger slam on.

@passenger @ErikUden I thought his apology letter was pretty good too. Owned what he did wrong and that it sucked, and had a practical explanation for how he was going to do better in the future (getting treatment for a brain injury and bipolar disorder). I hope he's doing better! It would be rad to have one less Nazi right about now
