a dear friend of mine who is a Senior, and lives in Ottawa, is going thru a health issue and could use a week or two in respite care. does anyone have any recommendations? she was quoted for one place, a minimum of one month's stay at $4500 which is way more time than she needs. all the places i've looked at don't give price lists unless you contact them. she's really not in any condition to do this. sigh.#ottawa

@AmandaEarl According to this article about Nurse Next Door in Hamilton, specialized medical care starts at $60/hour and can go up to $400+/day for overnight care. I assume prices are similar in Ottawa.

OHIP will cover some care if your friend has been recently hospitalized and requires post-hospital care. Other services might also be covered but there’s usually a wait-list if she qualifies. Nurse Next Door and other similar home care services would be sooner but not likely covered by OHIP.
