Had a fab day at my youngest brother’s wedding! It took place in the grounds of a stunning Irish castle…everything was beautifully choreographed, but it required more social stamina than my small family unit has, so we turned in early.

But while this might not seem a success, to me it was - no meltdowns or flouncing. Just admitting we know when we’re beat and calling it a day. It’s taken years to reach this point.

#Neurodivergence
#Wedding

Second day of Irish wedding…exhaustion, a zillion cups of tea that didn’t touch the sides, the kids subsisted on Easter eggs…and then were expected to reconvene for another sit down meal of about 90 people.

It was their third day of masking…and boom, they both decided in different ways they couldn’t do it any more.

Found out who my allies are in the family when it comes to #neurodivergence …they had my back while I ran around trying to pick up the pieces. Less said about others, the better.

But there was so much irony and misunderstanding among the older generation.

#neurodivergence particularly #autism is clearly heritable within my family.

But while some have understanding for the kids, they don’t extend that to adults.

The adults who most clearly are on the spectrum think the kids should be punished more severely (ie. smacked/hit).

My SiL is a SEND coordinator in a school and wanted to try and talk the situation through, but to no avail.

We travel on tomorrow…phew!
