Doing the right thing is the *only* consideration you ever need to make when confronted with a decision. You do not need to weigh the costs and benefits, you do not need to consider the opinions of others who do not adhere to the same philosophy, at most you should consult with others when the right thing is less than clear (it often can be).

But in the end, doing the right thing for the right thing's sake is all that matters.
