@ai6yr I'm reminded of how scientists were trying to communicate about how wide-ranging the effects of climate change would be. It takes a lot of interdisciplinary work for people to think through all the things that will change with a rise in global average temperature, but I'm willing to bet this was one that scientists in CA predicted would change...

@ai6yr I still haven't seen one in AZ, but I feel like I'm just one misstep away from fuckery.

I'm not good at spotting snakes to begin with, because we had so few in Massachusetts and only ONE to be worried about and had only EVER seen one in 40 years; a timber rattlesnake, which I didn't know existed until I saw one in the Blue Hills of MA. (just south of Boston)

@NosirrahSec @ai6yr
I grew up in the south with rattle, copperhead, cottonmouth snakes yet not great at seeing snakes. Except corals (color helps & they’re shy).

our parents let us run around the woods alone and swim in lakes. Lmao. I did get a lot of warnings about cottonmouths near rocka on lake shores.

snakes prefer not to interact, yet I worry about not seeing rattlers here. Have heard one, couldn’t pick it out even knowing which side of the trail it was on. Which is kind of terrifying.

@NosirrahSec @ai6yr my amazing non-venomous snake story is when I walked my Great Dane at night and he accidentally pooped on a small snake which I discovered during cleanup (jump scare).
@ai6yr 😬 The snakes are angry.
@ColesStreetPothole @ai6yr At least they're not on a plane.

@ColesStreetPothole @ai6yr Their alarm clocks for ending hibernation all went off early because of the weather. Wouldn't you be angry?

@ai6yr baby boom, but for snakes 🫣
