#LizardReport
Oh, so much to report!
Since I've been back the last few days, I haven't seen the big light-colored spiny lizard. Bill and Cutie have been mostly in the backyard, but Bill found a new babe who just showed up on the front wall.

I'm calling her Stubby for now, since she's just starting to regrow her missing tail. She was taking mealworms from my hand after about 6 of them, so tamed up very quickly.

The big news is the my big iguana buddy just woke up from hibernation and immediately remembered me. I saw her on the wall and was able to whistle a few times and walk right up. She crawled up on my hand even.

It was 20 minutes of pure squee!!!! I love that lizard 😍

As I was feeding her, Bill showed up, so I gave him some worms too.

I saw a large-ish zebra-tailed lizard a couple days ago, but was leaving and didn't have time to either tame it or see if it was the one from last year. They're skittish. Still no whiptails in the yard.

@Mikal All I got was one tiny lizard in the greenhouse who quickly ran away as soon as I removed his cover. I'm jealous. Maybe I need to stock up on mealworms and give it a try. It's kind of rare that I see any lizards here at all so probably not worth trying to tame them.

@Mikal

I so wish lizards lived this far north. Best we got is small very antisocial skinks.

@oldoldcojote

Try feeding them. You might be surprised.

@Mikal

I'll have to locate some first. They hide good. πŸ˜‰

Seen occasionally in rock piles by the creek.

Unfortunately I'm surrounded by fields that are regularily sprayed. Nothing can migrate into my 150 across that toxic to reptiles hell. I have imported a few things. The snappers have reproduced. No signs of gopher and fox I have let loose reproducing although food is plentiful. The original garters and redbelly snakes do well. I use to have mudpuppies (salamanders but still cool) but I think the bastard that poisoned the beaver den with a few gallons of herbicide killed them. Modern farming is hell on peacefully coexisting creatures. Doesn't help my neighbors all feed dozens of feral cats. People worry about the birds, noone cares about the snakes. Sorry to dump but I don't get to talk to reptile people often. ☺️

@oldoldcojote

I understand.
Luckily, this little town is surrounded by wild desert. And my California place is rural and surrounded by wild forest and meadows. So both have lots and lots of critters.

Now that the lizards have all come out of hibernation, I'm back to worrying about the new cat my next-door neighbor got last fall. But there are a few other threats to wildlife around here. No agriculture at all.

@Mikal

My family farm in N Mn is like that, just mostly wild. I love hearing about your cohabiting reptiles. If I ever get this farm functioning again, I'm going to spend some time back in Mn checking out skinks. 🌞
