@vampiress this feels like the sort of thing I would already have asked, but are you familiar with the game Silent Steel? 90s many-CD FMV VN putting the player in command of an Ohio (I forget which one) on an especially-cursed deployment. Very difficult at least partly from poor story design; I'm not sure it's possible to win without explicitly mapping out the many losing paths

@ChateauErin Familiar with, but never got to play it. I remember seeing it on the shelf when I was young, but like all CD games it was in a glass cabinet under lock and key - never even got to read the back of the box until years later.
