While browsing around the web, found a reference to New55, the 4x5 peel-apart film. The Kickstarter in 2014 succeeded, but losing access to the pod-making machine ended the project. The LomoGraflok is currently the only 4x5 instant film solution, on Instax Wide film. #believeinfilm

@AgPlusProcess it wasn’t losing access to the 20x24 Projects pods that caused it to end. They actually started making their own pods that were better. What ended it was the death of Bob Crawley, who came up with the product, and the inability of his colleagues to raise enough money to buy the IP from his estate, combined with the beginning of the pandemic.
@thereisnocat The timeline did not mention Bob Crawley's death, nor the development of a reagent. No mean feat, that last one -- PetaPixel had an article that Polaroid went through 5,000 bottles before developing a usable reagent. This post on Photrio tributes Bob Crawley, mentioned the reagent and noted that Sam Hiser bought the IP. A reagent does not mean pods, though, it was the machine that was missing. If you have more info, it would be appreciated. #believeinfilm https://www.photrio.com/forum/threads/passing-of-robert-bob-crowley-inventor-and-founder-of-new55.191825/

@AgPlusProcess I'm pretty sure that Sam was not able to raise the funds to buy the IP. I know he was looking for funds after Bob's death to do so; he told me that personally at the time. Chris Holmquest's post on Photrio is to my understanding incorrect about this. As for the pods, I was a regular customer of New55. I remember when they moved to making their own pods, because they become much more reliable. New55 was an important part of my photography for several years, going back to KS.
