*edited after 5 seconds of reflection* there is no up or down in space, and my lunar geography isn't great, so i have no idea if this is even true,

@winter from the perspective of an earthling they would be on the "left side" because if they travel around behind the moon at that angle, the moon's gravity robs them of some transverse velocity, which guarantees their free return, hence the different geography,

and it looks like that because the sun hasn't fully risen there yet

and "up", is up in this photo
