This one is in Grant City in NW Missouri. I’d guess the hydrant is at least 80 years old.

As a renovator/restorer for many years I find that quite sad.

For sure. A lot of good houses are just left to deteriorate. Depopulation is a process of slowly dying.

This house might not have had too many finer touches (like hardwood floors), but there are also very fine older homes that suffer the same fate.

Upgrading to more modern houses is a trend where I live. I have seen some beautiful places just knocked down and some others moved by truck and barged to nearby islands. A recent, and encouraging endeavour is the actual dismantling of the structure for the recycling of very valuable wood. ā¤ļø
