Pathetic seeing cis “allies” not only buying hogwarts legacy but flipping their shit on trans people who say it makes us uncomfortable. Centering their enjoyment of a video game over our physical safety.

I’d say it’s a uniquely transphobic thing but I think even more than that it’s a consumer culture thing. People are brainwashed to the point where they prioritize their unchecked enjoyment of nonessential products over literally other people’s lives.

I’ve seen people defend their consumerism to the core, like compare it to human necessities for survival like food and water and that you do not have a choice as an atomized consumer on a neoliberal market and bruh for sure that is true for bread and butter but not silly wizard game
@Erik I know right we’re not asking people to give up a basic need, not asking anyone to give up gaming or even a broad category of games it’s just one (1) video game in a time where there’s mountains and mountains of things one can play.
You can’t make this up

The fact we keep having the same debate on whether or not it's okay to support J.K. Rowling, be it for a video game or her newest book, must be incredibly exhausting for trans folks.

I'm hereby officially declaring the debate to be over: no, it's not okay, grow up and read a different book.

@ErikUden We had a similar issue with Roald Dahl...
@Vonskinnback well, to be fair, Roald Dahl is dead and can do no more harm, maybe only through the message in his books... which is a whole different debate 😫
@ErikUden indeed, but it does indicate how pervasive and long-lasting this damage will be, even after JK Rowling's death her poison will continue to infect until eventually it fades away...
