In #czechia we have nation wide systems for [things for people]. Like medical information, permanent address, debts, etc.

And it's a good thing.

I can just update my address/phone/government ID/... and every institution that I gave permissions to can download that updated data.

Now I'd like e-space to work in the same way. The best (and only?) place where we got to this is #DNS.

1) I update something I own
2) Everyone else can (want) to update their databases with fresh record

My problem with this is that it's incredibly limited. Seriously apart from #DNS which [internet thing] is: User data owned; Standardised; Automatically distributed; World wide; For end user (cough cough)?

And ideally we would build [entire internet] like this.

- Want to share files with friends? Box? Dropbox? Drive? I don't care, it just works.
- Want to exchange messages? WhatsApp? Telegram? Signal? Meh, who cares?
- Want to post on socials? BlueSky? Mastodon (kiiiidna notable exception)? ...

@chris_spackman And it’s not like there is massive innovation.
Apple, the most rich IT company on the planet that has everything locked down has #iMessage that has 5 predefined reactions and later on rolled out … drum roll … emoji reactions like every other platform.
One client can send a message that other client can’t interpret (same version - that heartbeat thingy).
And actual threads are a wet wish of someone who hates disorganised conversations.
