@histodons @CoinOfNote @numismatics Not ancient, but medieval, one of our coins is subject to unending arguments about the bird's identity (eagle, dove, rooster, peacock, …). Vox populi calls the coin “Brave's hen”, after the ruler who minted it (Bolesław the Brave).
@brie @histodons @numismatics While obviously not a scientifically detailed image, the size of the tail compared to the rest of the bird DOES lean towards a hen / rooster or peacock over an eagle or a dove.... Although having said that, I just searched for the dove with the largest tail.... and the Brown Cuckoo-Dove does have a tail which could fit.... Though the "crown" like (plumage?) on the head of your bird does lead back towards a hen or rooster. All of the other potential contenders have smooth round heads. My money is on whoever called it "Brave's hen" being right (FWIW).
