The CDC has paused testing for rabies and pox viruses.

It's vital we keep a close eye on them as rabies is virtually 100% fatal without vaccination, and smallpox killed hundreds of millions (we really don't want a similar virus returning).

Losing track of these viruses is a recipe for catastrophe.

- When I was at the uni, I was told the most efficient way to test for rabies is not by random samples in the human population, but by working with hunters and testing the animals they shot. At least in the North Hemisphere. In Southeast Asia, the methods are, of course, different.
