Trump has destroyed Iran's military, he's said, the war is 'pretty much' done. Just a few more weeks, now that it's... over. Iran's military has been destroyed and "have no anti-aircraft equipment. Their radar is 100 percent annihilated... We are unstoppable as a military force.”

So I sure hope they figure out who shot down that F-15 and A-10 since there's no way it was Iran. Which also caused the US to have to blow up two more aircraft that got stuck during the rescue operation.

“Casualty Cover-Up”: The Pentagon Is Hiding U.S. Losses Under Trump in the Middle East

The Pentagon has sent outdated statements on the number of U.S. troops killed or wounded during the Iran War, resulting in undercounts.

The Intercept

@tankgrrl

Glad to see an outlet looking into this. The numbers have seemed... suspicious to me for weeks now.

@futurebird @tankgrrl I think it was NPR who just broke a story about the base in Bahrain? At least 1500 of 8000 stationed there shipped back to US, with only the clothes on their backs, groups are trying to fundraise enough money to get them essentials, such a personal hygiene products. It was that help that alerted journalists that something is going in that has been covered up. (If I am remembering correctly.)
Gulf hotels housing US troops forced into hiding to be targets, Iran warns

US soldiers who have been forced into hiding in hotels across the Gulf after strikes on military sites have come in Iran's crosshairs. Iran's military has now warned that hotels sheltering American troops would be targeted as well.

@cmthiede @CStamp @futurebird @tankgrrl

That’s exactly why Iran has been targeting specific rooms in hotels that are being used to accommodate US military personnel who have abandoned US military bases across West Asia.

@cmthiede @futurebird @tankgrrl Human shields being illegal, but who cares these days? Israel has been slaughtering children and other civilians on the premise that a terrorist has been hiding behind them and the world has been silent. :(
@CStamp @futurebird @tankgrrl the US is in the hornet's nest now, it not only has an obligation to protect all those that want to be freed from their oppressive regime, but have to provide West Bank a perimeter to keep a certain swell inside their Israeli friend's party from wearing out their welcome. While the US battles imperialism, tech lords are mining sovereignty from US citizens to fund their progress made possible due to war abroad. All I can say is that there is a ton of land in this country that gets used improperly, if used at all. Europeans may have to find ways to help their US friends push back against a mighty controller once again. Knock down the pillars of digital serfdom before it becomes feudal.

@tankgrrl

Reporting accurate and timely information to the public is a core function of government. This includes death and causality numbers from the military, pandemic statistics, economic and population statistics, and the presidential papers covered by national records act.

Trump has systematically ignored and undermined this function of government.

You might say he's "running it like a business" (a shady one) --why should he give us information that makes him look bad?

@tankgrrl

I assume he thinks Democrats and other politicians who follow such rules are real dopes.

I love data, it's one of the things I like most about government, the data you can find and analyze. So, to me this is like being robbed. What do we pay you for if you don't produce the records?

@futurebird
"You might say he's "running it like a business" (a shady one) --why should he give us information that makes him look bad?"

This. A thousand times this.

@futurebird This administration lie? Unheard of!

@tankgrrl If it wasn't Iran...it must've been 'friendly' fire, or Israel.

@tankgrrl

Seems extremely odd that the US would choose to blow up its own planes while there were still US service personnel onboard them.

@jeremy_pm The aircraft the US blew up were empty, but stranded.

@tankgrrl

I haven't seen it but, allegedly, one of the photos of the wreckage includes a human skull amongst the debris that may or may not be that of a US combatant.

Hard to know what to believe but I certainly don't trust anything being said by US officials or media.

@tankgrrl
But I thought the A-10 Warthog was "America’s Unstoppable Tank-Killer".

How many times has an A-10 been shot down before? According to an article from 2 years ago, the "airplane built around a gun" (designed in the late 1960s) has "only suffered seven complete aircraft losses". Six of those happened in 1991.

How Many A-10 Warthogs Have Been Shot Down?

The A-10 is one of the most formidable aircraft in the US inventory. How many have been shot down in combat?
