Very tired right now. After spending the winter in my house, which is still mid-remodel and not very comfortable (although easier to keep warm), I'm moving back into my nice fifth wheel trailer outside.

I spent the last night here and today I moved computers and UPS and desk and desk chair and the like, taking time to clean the dust out of everything since I had it disconnected. Thus why I'm tired; some of it is quite heavy and I'm doing it by myself.

#Weather very nice today.

Besides the house move I also worked on a couple of other projects, including de-winterizing some outside conveniences.

Still need to hook back up computers and such tonight and I've got more moving and cleaning to do tomorrow, but for once I'm satisfied with how much I got done today.

Update:

Reconnecting everything is *not* going well. After a lot of messing around and trying different things I've come to the conclusion my KVM died sometime between disconnecting it this morning and reconnecting it this afternoon. I can't get it to send through a video signal.

This sucks.

Update update:

OK, this REALLY SUCKS. The KVM won't work with either my laptop or my main computer. (I haven't tried it with anything else yet.) But if I connect the main computer directly I *still* am not getting any video out.

The laptop, however, works fine connected directly. So do I have a problem with *both* the KVM and the main computer?

Grrr!

Updating the update update:

Gave up and made dinner and watched an episode of Hercule Poirot while eating. Then rechecked everything, including anything which could have pulled loose while I was vacuuming out the computer, and tried again.

And, YAY! My main computer is now working fine. The KVM, however, is toast. So I'll be looking for another one.

The problem is finding a KVM which supports four computers with HDMI and audio. Any suggestions?

@jackwilliambell is the audio separatly or via usb / hdmi? How many monitors? I have a 4 port * 2 hdmi port variant with. Older, with usb 2 only, which does not work properly with the think pad docking station.
A newer model (sorry in german): https://www.kvm-switch.de/de/4-port-dual-monitor-8k60hz-4k144hz-hdmi-hdmi-usb3-0-kvm-switch-mit-kabelfernbedienung-kc-kvm842.html
So far little complaints with jvm switches from KCEVE. (They tend to get hot)

If you need analog audio multiplexing that could get tricky, aka expensive:

@haihappen

- Audio separate if possible, but I'm beginning to think that may not be an option in my price range (other than the one that died, but I'm not buying another of those)

- I only need one monitor at this time, the one I use is 32"/812mm so it is pretty big, but two monitors doesn't hurt; and, again, it is looking like there are limited options without multiple monitors

- Yeah, that seems a bit expensive…
