This morning's science-experiment-gone-wrong

Had some hard boiled eggs which were not boiled long enough (dyed for Easter).

Decided I did not like soft boiled eggs

Cracked the egg, and put it in the microwave for a minute

Looked fine. Took it back to the table, started to peel it... moments later, EGG EXPLOSION EVERYWHERE. EGG ACROSS KITCHEN.EGG IN HAIR. EGG ON FACE. EGG ON WALL. EGG ON CEILING.

(that is all)

@ai6yr What a terrible way to start the day. Eggsplosion: a cautionary tale. I hope you have recovered!!
@firefly I was only laughing uncontrollably for 5 minutes. I knew you weren't supposed to microwave WHOLE eggs, I didn't think a cracked egg (with white exposed) would ALSO explode.

@ai6yr

Because one of my jobs working in a kitchen was so boring, I would occasionally
do stupid things for fun.

When the boss wasn't around.

One time, I microwaved an egg until it exploded inside the microwave,

"MMMmmmMMMMmmmm....Boomf!"

Then I cleaned up the mess I'd made, while the chef laughed at me and shook her head.

@ai6yr

The other story, told before, was when I drained a gallon tin can of juice through a couple small holes in the top, rinsed out the can, then put it on burner to boil 1 cm of water still inside. Steam displaced all air inside, and I slapped tape over the holes. Steam condensed, vacuum formed inside, can became stressed from atmospheric pressure trying to crush it. Chef wandered over to watch. I whacked can with a spoon and it collapsed with a bang, as if it had been stomped on.
