Just found out that one of my long time marshal colleagues has died. We were the same age, give or take a few months.

I really feel for their partner, they were each other's world.

Cancer really, REALLY fucking sucks.

#cancer #bereavement

@greem
It certainly does !

@stannard they were one of the fittest, strongest, most driven people I ever knew. They came back from a serious spinal fracture while in the forces, having to learn to walk again.

But then a glioblastoma got them. Mercifully very, very quickly.

I'm out at Donington Park tomorrow, handling the radios in race control. It'll be a day of reflection.

@greem
I am a secretary to a support group and talk to many guys with a Prostate Cancer diagnosis, often the initial point of contact for peer support.
I try to instill an upbeat outlook on living with PCa, but not easy when you hear how some are doing.
A very emotional time.

@stannard Yeah. I'm also waiting for my CT results from Thursday so there's additional poignancy/terror there.

My local support group is really good, there are people there who've been living with PCa for 20+ years. I doubt I'll get that far, but who knows?

@greem
I was told the expression is
Scanxiety.
I have a scan scheduled for Tuesday morning, No food for three hours prior....
I will fade away !
Hope your results are good.
Does your group have a masto presence?
I try to keep ours up to date.
@tbpcsg
I have an RSS onto our website as an easy update.
Enjoy your day tomorrow. :-)
