If you ever get sick of me banging on about my life and think 'ugh I wish she would stick to the porn' then please know: hardly anyone ever boosts the fucken porn.
@girlonthenet Also, there's _tons_ of porn everywhere on the internet. And of course I can't speak for everyone who reads GotN, but _I'm_ here for porn with _personality._ 🤷‍♂️
@nightscy If you're here for it, great - pls share it!
@girlonthenet Wait, seriously?
@Sylvhem yep. The latest blog I published will get more traffic than anything I’ve posted on the last 2 months at least. But far far fewer shares. People click the porn but tend not to share it 😭
@Sylvhem I did some analysis on this back in 2015 and it’s still broadly true (I should run numbers for BlueSky v Mastodon - Masto would win, but it’d still be similarly skewed) https://www.girlonthenet.com/blog/which-sex-blog-posts-most-popular/
Which sex blog posts are the most popular (analysis by post)

Are sex blog posts more popular than opinion pieces? And are people more likely to click a link on Twitter if it's demonstrably not safe for work?

Girl on the Net
@girlonthenet @Sylvhem I would be fascinated to see the numbers on that.
@girlonthenet I understand why, but I find that disapointing. I wish we lived in a world where shuring porn on personal spaces was seen as normal --'.
@Sylvhem yeah agreed. I get it but it’s a bit frustrating cos I like to get the dopamine from lots of shares if I’ve been a good girl and written summat filth 😂
@girlonthenet @Sylvhem This is why I have an alt account just for porn.
@girlonthenet
I prefer hearing about your life tbh. It makes me realise that despite how good things can look at a brief glance from the outside, the more you look into it that things aren't as perfect as they seem. No such thing as a perfect life. While I may not enjoy seeing you struggle with stuff I enjoy reading it because it's more real life rather than the fantasy that other content creators try to get into your head.
@jamesb man that is so depressing. Thanks tho, I do see what you mean and I am glad I can be helpful in that regard. But I’m sad that my life is such a cautionary tale/dose of reality 😂Where’s my happy ever after 😭
@girlonthenet
Sorry G, I didn't mean for it to be depressing. But I love you for wearing your heart on your sleeve and making people realise it's not all sex and roses, that it takes work and nothing comes delivered on a plate.
@girlonthenet I follow you for the banging on about your life tho...
@girlonthenet there's definitely a self consciousness thing with boosting the porn, it certainly makes me feel uncomfortable as I wonder if anyone I know would judge me based on that retoot
@girlonthenet yeah, I've been bad about the boostlessness.
I'll do better.
@girlonthenet Preach, sister

@Jaimieserotica @girlonthenet

It is a tricky one.

For dull professional reasons, given my clear identifiability, I am circumspect about what I boost, which is invariably less than I would *like* to boost.

And that is especially hard when the posts in question are written by a friend, and even more so when that friend makes money from their writing and by being read. And even *even* more so when one has a sex positive outlook, and wishes that there was less shame around sex.

Although I know G an awful lot better than I know J, I value you both being here, and I very much hope that you will both stay, and continue to write and share.

@girlonthenet Granted, we love your holes and what you do with them, but we also LOVE AND CARE ABOUT your WHOLE PERSON. Or as much as you let us know about. And we won't get sick of you telling use you're doing great, or if we need to help pick you up off the floor. We're here for all of it, porn included. We just have to be better at boosting your stuff. I've got Masto, Blusky, and Twitter that I should be boosting you on. I will endeavor to do better.
@girlonthenet this has just made me realise that as far as I remember I've never had to mute a porn post. All the posts I've ever had to mute have been tech posts that have escaped containment.

Bah
