My greatest professional accomplishment of the year: I got my exec & manager teammates saying "point positive," a term from whitewater rafting and kayaking.

Meaning: when facing hazards, point people toward where to go/what to do, rather than drawing attention to everything to avoid.

It's a critical point that's often missed.

I did a defensive driving course in the 80s, and the statement was aim for the gaps. It stuck with me.

The context was if you get into a skid on a street with lampposts, and the point was not to look at the lamppost, because if you do you'll hit it, you go where you're looking, so look at and aim for the gap.

I've found it a useful phrase ever since.
