Android is the mobile operating system where stuff can be built. If Google doesn't like your app, fine, users can sideload. And no, that's not going away. You can make your own screen reader, accessibility services, and for AI, Android phones now have up to 24 GB of RAM. I definitely wouldn't be able to use an iPhone as my computer for a week.

@pixelate Iphone 13 pro max user. I'm jumping ship as soon as I can affford it. Give me pixel + graphene
@pixelate Imagine users having to reboot device and wait 24h to be able to install any top downloaded apps used today from BigTech, surely they would have loved that, right?
@fdroidorg Or use ADB if they can't wait that long.
@pixelate Nobody used ADB to install Faceb****, Inst*** or Whats***... no need to troll.
@fdroidorg I feel like you're the one trolling. Advanced users will use ADB.
@pixelate So 3.9 billion users should not be able to install clean, privacy respecting, verified reproducible #FLOSS apps from #FDroid because...? Ah, they're not advanced enough, off to the Play jail with them... off under the the proved abuser umbrella with them...
@fdroidorg @pixelate I think the conversation has derailed a bit from “praising Android” “yes, but there are limitations” “advanced users can circumvent these limitations” “are you denying the value of our work??” “are you denying the value of Android??” and I don’t know, both positions are valid but if you jump out of the blue to complement a point of view the other person will get slightly defensive and you will interpret this as a form of intimidation toward your own work. I don’t think anyone meant to belittle each other’s point of view at any point in the thread…

@oceane @pixelate First post talks about a nice past that won't live to see the future. Were our post less funny? For good reason.

But there was *no* intent to intimidate or otherwise belittle. Just to inform. ☮️

/LE: missed the "no" 🤦

@pixelate Or you mean that normal users won't ever use ADB to install those? As if #Google knows that the harder an app is to install the less chances to be successful it is? As if you know that too maybe? Interesting...
