microsoft: you have to upgrade to windows 11

people: okay. it says my computer doesn't support windows 11

microsoft: you have to buy a new computer and upgrade to windows 11

tech industry: we just bought all the ram, buying a new computer is now 10x as expensive

microslop: ah well, nevertheless

@eniko my tin foil hat theory is that the entire tech industry is planning and carrying out these things in order to push people away from owning a computer and instead paying for cloud computing as their desktop experience, privacy and security risks included

but the big tech sector appears to be profoundly stupid so there's no way they could possibly plan out such a thing

The evidence?

The fossil fuel money funding these tech fascists conduct a successful social engineering campaign to end democracy & fry the planet

The self-destructive goals may be dumb, but the people behind the tactics & propaganda aren't.

On The War On General Purpose Computing | TechCrunch

The powers that be want to control your phones and your drones. And who can blame them? It was inevitable. Of course they're upset that smartphones are making it hard to catch speeders. Of course manufacturers are hurrying to ensure that drones refuse to fly to certain locations, before they're forced to do so by law. Those are the instruments of power in today's and tomorrow's world.
