This morning's science-experiment-gone-wrong

Had some hard boiled eggs which were not boiled long enough (dyed for Easter).

Decided I did not like soft boiled eggs

Cracked the egg, and put it in the microwave for a minute

Looked fine. Took it back to the table, started to peel it... moments later, EGG EXPLOSION EVERYWHERE. EGG ACROSS KITCHEN.EGG IN HAIR. EGG ON FACE. EGG ON WALL. EGG ON CEILING.

(that is all)

@ai6yr
Oh no!
@NorcalGma2 Fortunately, no damage to anyone, just egg bits everywhere. I was laughing so hard for 5 minutes. I knew they would explode if you microwaved them WHOLE, I thought a cracked egg (with white exposed) would surely not explode as well.
@ai6yr @NorcalGma2 I bet that when you cracked the egg, the membrane stayed intact...
@Darkphoenix @NorcalGma2 No idea! I won't do it again, lol. The explosion happened when I put a fork in between the white and the yolk, so there must be some other membranes/etc. in there that build up pressure. It was impressive, eggwhite everywhere!!!!
@ai6yr @NorcalGma2 Oh I bet! I once saw the aftermath covering the inside of the microwave after a roommate put an uncracked egg in the microwave. It was hard to believe the level of devastation that a single egg can create.
@ai6yr @NorcalGma2 Yeah. I made that mistake once. Only once.
