I’ve said this here before but I was so scared it was going to be horrible until I watched that first trailer and saw the headboard of Paul’s bed was exactly as described in the books, if someone was going to have that level of attention to detail I knew I’d love it. Also seeing the ornithopters in the trailer completely took me out, that design is so good

It is absolutely the funniest thing imaginable that Frank Herbert wrote a book about how you should never trust charismatic messianic leaders and how people like Paul are the bad guys and the hero’s journey is bullshit and he got so incensed when everyone said “wow! Paul!! What a great hero!!” that he immediately wrote a second book calling them all dumbasses

MannyCartoon@carithlee @checkervest this is great...i find the books impenetrable (my own shortcomings) but I've heard the Herbert was very specifically trying to tell the messiah bad storry...and no one followed it. On a similar level Lucas mad a story about Space faciest and i always felt the public never truley got it. Vader is HUGE in cosplay and the 501st is a HUGE charity org...butbtheir the baddies?

On a deeper level ive always disliked that most popular space stuff is military. Even trek thats supposed to be about exploration military based. Mot sure why...but it does.

No, no you misunderstand. This is an exploration and science vessel. We designed it with minimal weaponry. The fact that it's stronger than your dedicated warship is merely coincidental.

Although this is reduced somewhat by the fact that their cushy flying hotels are also their armed-to-the-teeth capital ships.
