Just restarted my Old Man playthrough on #Arma3 and holy crap I'm not sure if I'm overthinking it or that scenario's designed to make you paranoid.
@BalooUriza That's just the initial period before it turns into a gear hoarding game. Once you stop overthinking it and keep to the tasks that advance the story, you'll find it's very short.
@f13rf3k Curious how many hours?

@BalooUriza Can't say I remember, but it can't have been more than 10. At one point you may or may not find something to speed it all up, like a heavily armed car or a helicopter, so your experience might be different.

I'm not sure how far you've gotten and don't want to spoil anything, but I've ignored some quests because, as you said, I was pretty paranoid when dealing with some people there.

@f13rf3k Then there's the doctor that's like "there may be an easier way, just go to the market and pick up some drugs" and I'm like, "My dude, have you just not noticed that you paid me $100 and it costs $375 to refuel a quad?"
@f13rf3k What are some good game modes or servers that I can try for long term persistent wars that end when they end, similar to Invade & Annex, but PvP with logistics a factor?
@BalooUriza Can't say, I've never played this game on public servers and within our friend group we just play smaller PvE scenarios, only rarely full CTI game modes. We used to play Liberation, but last time we tried, it was completely broken. Mods not keeping up with each other is this game's Achilles' heel.
@f13rf3k Aah. I strongly suggest trying out the 420th Delta Division servers if you want to try some online multiplayer with a large number of people. It's PvE and effectively just Zeus with a lot of macros, but with no real endgame and the server resets every few hours it gets a little repetative.

@BalooUriza Appreciate the suggestion, but I'm afraid my avoidance of such servers is intentional. I used to play the previous entry in this game series with a larger unit, both as a rando and as a member, and eventually grew tired with the drawbacks of such numbers and sick with the attitude of some people, which is bound to appear at large enough servers.

Besides, we have a finely tuned modset and I'd hate to have to give up parts of it, that would be like playing a worse game. I don't want to sound snobbish, but FPS or military games aren't my absolute fav genres and I only play Arma because my friends do. We found our sweet spot of what works best for us and it looks like we'll just keep playing Forgotten Few until Arma 4.
