paraphrased annoyance of the day: "if we don't engage with journalists' posts here on masto, they'll leave...a clear sign of #monoculture"
if you don't hit FAV and RT, an angel loses its wings
"people on my fediverse instance tell me they don't want my type of content there" ... then go to another instance? sir, this isn't bluesky, you have options...
@patrick_h_lauke if they really wanted to get ahead they'd write an "I'M BEING SILENCED" op-ed in the NYT, and then they could be hired to run CBS News
@mattmay this is like "the vibes are off" posts i've seen from "some" "A-lister" web design folks when they left Twitter(RIP) but realised they weren't getting the "engagement" they were used to (that they thought they deserved, i.e. lots of sycophantic OMG YOU SO THOUGHTLEADER!), so moved over to bluesky...
i follow specific people and hashtags that interest me. have i curated my own #monoculture ? maybe, but >i< choose what i want to engage with. contrary to the forced shit "trending" bollocks i get on other monolithic platforms, where the algorithm rewards clickbait/ragebait. it's a quieter life. and we've had this monoculture discourse for aeons already. "oh no, people are only buying newspapers that have the same political leaning as them!" you don't say?
"people don't engage with my blog as much as when i post on facebook...is my blog enforcing a monoculture?"
@patrick_h_lauke WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE PUNDITS
