Good morning Mastodon! Hope you’re all ok? Today I’m currently reading and hugely enjoying Love Lethal, Death Divine by Jelena Dunato for some great fantasy. What are you reading at the moment?

@RunalongWomble

Ithaca, which is the first real good book (for me) for a while. My younger self was all there for the myths and legends; my young adult self for Mary Renault's m-m writing; now Claire North centring the women is done brilliantly.

@RunalongWomble morning! I'm about to start The Ossians by Doug Johnstone, for the blog tour

@RunalongWomble howdy, Womble. Still working through advanced copy of upcoming The Savage Landscape by Cal Flynn, my reading pattern understandably interrupted by hospital & recuperation, but still working through.

Compelling nature writing, will be recommending it to readers of Rob MacFarlane etc in the bookshop

So, an ARC then? Dark fantasy is often the best fantasy. I will have to take a look when it gets published on Tuesday.

I am halfway through a book of stories by Josh Green, titled Dirtyville Rhapsodies. A lot of references to my own stomping grounds in Atlanta.

My takeaway is that this is easy reading, especially if you haven't been in the mood of late. The darkly funny stories feature ordinary people who must decide what to do about the messiness and absurdity of life, and especially their own culpability in creating it.

@kimlockhartga it is and review tomorrow :)
@RunalongWomble Good for you. It drives me batty when people are lucky enough to get ARCs and don't get their reviews out by pub date, though certainly life can get in the way sometimes.
