Me: pretty cool with North, South, East, West, but I'm kinda not going to participate in Up and Down or Left and Right in socially acceptable ways sometimes

Her: the cardinal directions aren't a social construct

(And if you're talking about magnetic North then it's not a convention)

Unless of course you want to count all languages and units of measurement as a construct but at that point you are no longer speaking English but rather some other language that just happens to sound like English.

This general idea has quite a lot of applications: get me high and we can talk about the definition of Art and how it relates to the meaning of life (long story and it's not going where you think it is, lol)
