Reminder that the Dutch LOVE their cars.
And like drivers everywhere, can behave as if they own the roadm with pure #entitlement.

And yet the country has the largest and safest walk and bike network. Yes, they fight over every parking space that needs to make way for pedestrian or bike infrastructure.

Ped & bike advocates, keep fighting the good cause. You too can win.

Something I’ve wondered about strong biking cultures.

Do any work places provide secure indoor sheltered parking?

One of the main deterrents about bikes in the states is the frequently true assumption they WILL be stolen if left out of eyeshot if only for a moment.

But perhaps theft is a societal issue.

Of course there is bike theft, ngl.

But also in Delft last year they started an indoor secure parking where you check your bike in - and out. And it's free. I assume other cities have it too.

Freestanding homes have secure sheds. Apartment buildings built in the 1960s or later have secure storage space on the ground floor.
