While we’re at it. I intend to soon replace my gas stove with an induction one. One thing that bothers me: since the wok has a comparatively small area of contact, how does it work on induction? Anybody have some experience with that?

@fraca7 I have a 12 inch nonstick that has a 6 1/2 inch base in contact. It heats as well as my other frying pans but it's not a Wok. Even preheated it doesn't give the heat at the sides that a nice thin aluminum version gets on a gas stove.
Sorry to say that I have given up on 45 second stir frys. bummer.
Otherwise, induction stoves are great for most of my cooking. Very fast heat and cooldown.
Be sure to post if you find a good alternative. Good luck!

@eccentricgeezer Thanks, looks like I was right to investigate beforehand. And just like that I asked myself « what if there were induction stoves with a single gas burner » and holy shit, there are some! Eye-watering price tag though.

@fraca7 Oh my. I'm glad I'm not in the market. Combo stoves huh?

Well, if I move the one set of upper cabinets for a proper hood...
nope. stops now.

maybe just a dedicated Wok burner...
