Does anyone know if there are any #eInk-based phones with unlocked bootloaders you could install something like #LineageOS on?

That would be a crazy cool device to have, but I wouldn't be willing to put up with the typical #Android shenanigans.

Does Mudita Kompakt support third-party apps?

While Mudita Kompakt does not include an app store, you can sideload third-party Android apps using our Mudita Center desktop application. However, apps not optimized for the E Ink screen or requiring Google Services may perform inconsistently. Mudita does not guarantee the compatibility of any third-party apps.

Ah, better for something like a secondary device then.

Might be neat to play around with.

@amin @rl_dane I've been, eyeing the Boox Palma 2 Pro for a while now and thinking the same thing. $400 is a lot of money.

The Mudita Kompakt seems a wee but more affordable (by $100, IIRC).

Also, Onyx/Boox has a bad history with GPL violations, although at this point that may well be proverbial fleas on the Urukhai's back of our current dystopia.
