The type-3 phaser rifle is seen for the first time in #StarTrekTNG's "The Mind's Eye". It will go on to appear in later #TNG and #StarTrekDS9 episodes. Here it is in all its clunky glory! :-)
@gaghyogi49 I appreciate how the Federation’s approach to weapons (in the 24th century, anyway) is basically to make them as ugly as possible out of spite for having to make them in the first place.
