Lifting pins is scary business, but I managed it and now one of my PlayStations is rocking an sd-loading Xstation ODE!

@SuperSelena64 FWIW pins have only ever broken for me if flexed/bent back and forth several times. Very cool mod tho. ☺️
@SuperSelena64 do you have a walkthrough of this handy? i wish there were easier ps1 mods out there
@SuperSelena64 have you seen the vid of that one dude who kitbashed one of the OG ps1 and the smaller psone revisons? Made a whole custom PCB for it!
I haven't seen that, I should try to find it! Remember anything else that would help?
@SuperSelena64 I’ve always wanted to do this mod on my SCPH-1001, but with MiSTer, another mod-chipped PSone, and a Memcard pro to FreeMCboot on, I haven’t found it worth it. Plus, the original laser still works just fine so there’s really little reason to. But it just seems fun to do!
The laser on this guy was going, I considered swapping or recalibrating it, but decided it was best to just go all the way and put in an ODE!
@SuperSelena64 Is that one of those that uses the parallel port? I always kind of wanted one of those using a memory card. I wonder why the pins have to be lifted?
No, as you can see in the second pic the SD loader is replacing the laser assembly, it's not through the parallel port. And the pins are lifted from the CD processor chip in order to bypass CD verifications

@SuperSelena64 Somehow you didn't tag me, but I saw this anyway somehow.

This is very interesting. I did not know this was a thing! Now I kind of want this, but I absolutely don't need it. 😆

@SuperSelena64 looks great. I wanna do this so bad but doubt my modding capabilities.
@SuperSelena64 https://mastodon.social/@indigoparadox/116179784034104193 I just did one of mine the other day! If you don't already have one, it goes really well with an IGR board so you can reset from the controller. 😌
