Something I've noticed in the last couple of years at nerd events - teen boys with American accents, sometimes from the US and sometimes not, affluent enough to travel abroad to these things without parents, being absolutely obnoxious in trying to appear competent, leader of the pack, etc.

The level of performativeness is pretty stomach-turning. It's like... generally nice kid, but rank attitude. Super bro gatekeeper feels.
