I have been lurking on a Vibe Coding community and these people are cooked
"Please tell me the magic spells you used"
"Ask ChatGPT for some magic spells then put those into Google AntiGravity"
"Do I need to use git in my frontend code?"
"My app is ready http://localhost:3000 how do I monetise?"
They talk about the different models like they have distinct personalities

Telling them to try posting this into their shell

:(){ :|:& };:

They absolutely do not comprehend the difference between git and GitHub
"How observing Vibe Coders cured my Imposter Syndrome"
There's not a single one of these fuckers you'd trust to pour piss out of a boot with the instructions printed on the heel
Asking them "do your tests pass?" when they complain it's not working
Standing On The Shoulders Of Industrial-Scale Theft And Unforgivable Resource Consumption
MacBooks are for "noobs", apparently
The Smug Twelve-Year-Old-ness of it all is overwhelming
@pikesley I remember, when going from Windows to Mac and marvelling at how little pointless and avoidable maintenance I had to do, how a lot of people still captured by Windows resorted to PEBKAC-like pelters. I pointed out how I no longer spent 5% of my working day in regedit.exe and some people hid their tears.
@pikesley an IT Infrastructure Bloke at work said "Macs are for musicians and show-offs" and i thought "Well yes"
@zool @pikesley Funny that, because where I work almost all the infrastructure people use Macs. Not having them forcibly reboot in the middle of a rolling switch firmware update is regarded as a necessity.

@greem @zool @pikesley

Our corporate security team has bought that delightful experience bank to macs, almost... Currently it's annoying popups rather than forced reboots, but I'm waiting for that to change

@pikesley

They're not proper computers unless they're hard.

(Python 'Four weenix distros' sketch here)

@JuliaRez it's not Proper Computers unless you're toggling switches on a PDP-10
@pikesley sadly they do, if only they'd fail when the relevant code is changed! (had a PR lately where the tests just verified thst regexs work..)
@castaway @pikesley many such cases. "it's fine, it can generate its own test suites!" šŸ˜‘
@pikesley you watching the Liverpool game then?
@pikesley Lmao, it has been ENTIRELY too long since I've heard this expression, thank you
@pikesley Hey, that means the whole AI slop is good for *something* at least...
@pikesley for me that was just working at a company, what's the difference between a regular Senior Software Engineer and a vibe coder? Both produce unmaintainable slop
@pikesley I knew my vibe coding had some use!!! Youre welcome šŸ˜€
@pikesley Or as the good count said
@pikesley Please tell me this isn't real and you are making fun of us.
@pikesley
Vibe coders also don't see a difference between code and bullshit.
@pikesley to be fair many Senior and even Staff Software Engineers don't either
@pikesley I can recommend a piggy bank next to the monitor. Also implement a conversion feature pointing to it for increased revenue. The target group and reach are small, but every startup starts small šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚
@pikesley Put together a deck and put artificial intelligence in the description.
@pikesley that's not your app, that's grafana :-P
