the cynic in me thinks that maybe, you could remove the notification led to increase how addictive the rectangle is. after all, always-on screens became a thing. and big tech still had learned nothing and forces new, even more grotesque things down our throats.
perhaps a notification led in 2026 is not going to be helpful anyways. no longer is your phone a tool to communicate to people with. it's a tool for advertisers to communicate to you. i think the led would just always be on now ;;
