Closer inspection shows traces of lifted pads by the original repairer. I also see some blackened traces in a few places.
I retouched the soldering, reseated SMD components that were lifted or misaligned. At least the "cap juice" was already cleaned up properly.
This board will require a thorough check before I use it for a project. Will slap a sticker on it to remind me.
