Al-Shehab Center for Human Rights announced that it received a distress call from a detainee inside Wadi El-Gedid Prison, highlighting the suffering and ongoing violations faced by prisoners under harsh and inhumane detention conditions.
In his letter, the detainee explained that he is being held in a section known among prisoners as the "Death Quarter" or "Hell Quarter," referring to the severity of the living conditions there. He noted that a detainee died in this section a year ago, while the conditions remain unchanged.

The letter confirmed that detainees experience various types of violations, including:

• Systematic psychological and physical pressure
• Deliberate medical and nutritional neglect
• Abuses by some criminal prisoners collaborating with the prison administration
• The lack of any secure mechanisms for filing complaints or reporting violations
