Mackinac, built by @johnwhiteside, is an open social web client that's thinking multi-protocol and bridging-first! John's added a *ton* of unique features we've never seen before, so we wanted to outline a few of them in a thread 👇🏼

1/🧵

In your feed, bridged posts show up with a little bridged icon and handles display the way they do on their native ecosystem. No weird long Bridgy Fed handles!

If you view a bridged profile you get the switcher to jump to the other protocol and see the native profile.

2/

For bridged posts that exceed the 300-character limit, you can view the full text from a “view more” button. On profiles you can also see the full text and handles display as the native handles.

3/

This is just the start of the work on mackinac.social, and we're really excited to see where it goes!

Making bridging more native blurs the line between technologies and lets people focus on their people.
