Social media should be centered around people, not platforms. Let's build bridges, not walls. That's why we're building Bridgy Fed and Bounce.

FediForum Connect | Bridgy Fed: Bridging the new social internet

Bridgy Fed is a decentralized social network bridge. It connects the fediverse, the web, and Bluesky. If you’re on one of these networks, you can use Bridgy Fed to follow people on other networks, see their posts, and reply and like and repost them. Likewise, they’ll be able to see you and your posts too. All interactions work both directions.

Love this project by @j12t and @fediforum that surfaces numerous ways you can use the open social web!

Excited to be a part of the launch with Bridgy Fed and Bounce listings already in place 🙏🏼

My talk from #AtmosphereConf is up on YouTube!

I talk about all the dreams we accomplished within only a year, lessons I learned along the way, and some of the new dreams I have for the next few years.

Biggest lesson: dream bigger, bc @snarfed.org can literally build anything.

Bridgy Fed Service Update:

Between 4/5 10am PT -> 4/6 2 pm PT, Bridgy Fed had an operational issue that unfortunately dropped ~10% of actions it was supposed to bridge from the Fediverse to the Atmosphere.

The issue has now been fixed and new posts should bridge as expected. We're currently backfilling deletes and disable requests as a high priority.

We apologize for any inconvenience, and please let us know if you encounter issues with new posts.

Thank you!

This is just the start of the work on mackinac.social, and we're really excited to see where it goes!

Making bridging more native blurs the line between technologies and lets people focus on their people.

Mackinac - Explore the Open Social Web

A powerful, native iOS client for the AT Protocol and Bluesky. Experience the social web like never before.

For bridged posts that exceed the 300-character limit, you can view the full text from a “view more” button. On profiles you can also see the full text and handles display as the native handles.

3/

In your feed, bridged posts show up with a little bridged icon and handles display the way they do on their native ecosystem. No weird long Bridgy Fed handles!

If you view a bridged profile you get the switcher to jump to the other protocol and see the native profile.

Mackinac, built by @johnwhiteside, is an open social web client that's thinking multi-protocol and bridging-first! John's added a *ton* of unique features we've never seen before, so we wanted to outline a few of them in a thread 👇🏼

If you're building an Atmosphere client or platform, and want to build a similar experience, check out how in our docs: https://fed.brid.gy/docs#bluesky-fields
Bridgy Fed

Bridgy Fed is a bridge between decentralized social networks like the fediverse, Bluesky, and web sites and blogs.

Got the blues because your Fediverse posts sent through Bridgy Fed that are over 300 characters get truncated on the Atmosphere, and they have to click into a link?

Well, good news: starting today, deck.blue, a TweetDeck-like client for Bluesky, shows the *full* post from over the bridge - no truncation, no links!

v2.20 is up! - Bookmarks from Bluesky now supported - Verification badges (can be turned off!) - @ap.brid.gy support (shows full text from ActivityPub when clicking bridged posts) - Video player fixes - Other minor fixes - Roadmap update Please take a look at the full post below for more info! https://www.patreon.com/posts/154420498?pr=true
