We had IT club again this afternoon. I spent a while persuading a #Debian system to print to a HP inkjet after it had worked when we did the initial install but hasn't worked since.
In the end I purged all trace of the #hplip packages and it started to work perfectly again. We rebooted and it continued to work perfectly.
We then did a few desktop tweaks now he's had the system a fortnight and he was a happy camper.
