@faraiwe There's no way the Democrats will block a nomination. The GOP has 53 votes in the Senate, _and_ there are DINOs who will vote to confirm.
I think if you can't imagine Trump finding someone worse than Alito to nominate, you're not trying very hard.
And in any case, my main point was that we don't want Trump to get to nominate someone who will get to remain on the court for the next 40 years, vs. Alito, who's living on borrowed time.

@faraiwe The best case scenario if Alito dies while Trump is president is the seat doesn't get filled until the next president takes office. The fascists still have five seats on the court even if that happens. It's virtually useless.
The worst case scenario, and the one that is obviously far more likely (not "surefire", just "pretty fucking obvious if you've been paying attention") is that seat gets filled with someone as bad as Alito for the next 40 years.
