BREAKING: Massive OpenClaw exploit in the wild. ProTip: Don't screw around with this stuff.

@lauren counterpoint

The idiots who push for usage of LLM bullshit SHOULD be allowed to wade fully and unmitigated into full consequences of their idiocy.

If anything else, for our entertainment.

@faraiwe Ordinary people are sucked into this stuff -- they do not deserve to be disparaged, and that they so frequently are is one of the longest standing and most awful aspects of techies writ large.

@lauren

We can NOT protect people who are absolutely, comprehensively, wantonly, *devotedly* oblivious to the consequences of their actions from harm.

This is a fact, and we can wrap them all we want with bubble wrap, but the moment you make something idiot proof, here comes a better idiot.

It's a lesson from ~3 decades of working infosec AND ~decade or more of real-world mil sec.

They have been warned. Countless times.They don't care, and they WILL drag us all to hell.

@faraiwe When you blame the nontechie user, you are always on the wrong side of the argument. Blaming the user has been the go-to principle for Big Tech since the beginning, causing immense harm to innocent people mostly forced to use this tech that they don't really understand as other support and communications options have been withdrawn. They are not to blame. Big Tech and their billionaire CEOs are to blame, and techies overall have been the most obnoxious -- note the term LUSER they so often love -- of any group I've known in my own long technical career in this respect.

@lauren that's a very narrow, and apologetic of apathy pov, because it removes responsibility from users. If your use of something CAN harm others, you should be mindful of it

By that principle, of never blaming users, we should abolish drivers licenses. You can harm people with your digital presence, too, just as with political presence, or with a vehicle, etc etc.

Nothing is neutral. Responsibility is always there

@faraiwe You're completely missing the point. Such a typical techie point of view. So sad.

@lauren You are not even aware of my point. I am sad at you, too.

I deal with that disappointment, because it's typical of those who don't care for others, and just want convenience at ANY cost. If I had a dime...

But anyways.

Can“t protect fools from themselves. Unpossibel.
