Trump says it's 'not possible' for the U.S. to pay for Medicaid, Medicare and day care: 'We’re fighting wars'

President Donald Trump on Wednesday said it’s “not possible” for the federal government to fund Medicare, Medicaid and child care costs, arguing that it should be up to the states to “take care” of those programs while the federal government focuses on military spending

@StefanEJones

You know, if he cuts medicaid & food stamps deeply, he will lose every red county in KY. They literally cannot survive without federal programs. There are few living wage jobs, the people who've owned farms & businesses for generations can't sell & get anything near what it would cost to buy new ones in decent places, and the education is christo-fascist nonsense dressed up in public school drag. They have no hope without UBI or something like it.

@MissGayle @StefanEJones Tnis is so VERY true, in my opinion. Rural voters there have always voted against their own best interests. I think that’s because of a lack of critical thinking skills for the younger folks. I’m not sure about the older folks and what has caused this…maybe simply the whole religion/church thing and how they just vote the way their pastor tells them to. (We lived in KY for 40 years before coming back to New England last year. )
