EmDash Playground #oldaily https://www.downes.ca/post/79084 A lot of smart thinking went into this application that touts itself as what WordPress would look like if it were built with today's tools. It's "a full-stack TypeScript CMS built on Astro and Cloudflare.

@oldaily it still seems like such a complex hosting model. I have a folder of markdown files that get converted to html files that get uploaded to a low-end server. That’s the end of the CMS involvement and the website just works forever-ish.
@dnorman @oldaily Well yeah, but that's hardly 'Wordpress functionality', it's a static website.

@Downes @dnorman @oldaily A post like this has been drafted in my head. The look and structure of a web site is one thing, but it’s fashionable to look down on WordPress.

That ignores all the things one can do just be fiddling with its URLs https://show.cogdog.casa/pressedconf21/ not to mention its RSS feeds for everything, an open API, and with some fiddling, and the hooks into its flow.

D’Arcy has done much to extend, but he’s a guru.

I still adore what I can do with WP.
