fucked up that fish have jaws
How much of your life have you spent thinking about or drawing fish jaws?
@whitequark very nearly none at all (unless you count all the times that i had line of sight to a poster for the 1975 Spielberg film _Jaws_, but then i wasn't really thinking about it volitionally so much as the concept was being advertised at me)
@whitequark idea: what if there was a film called _Jaws_ that, unlike the Spielberg film, is literally about jaws
@whitequark More than many people would expect of me. Can I interest you in cases of an even higher jaw to fish ratio? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moray_eel#Jaw
Moray eel - Wikipedia

@drahflow yeah moray eels are good

@whitequark @drahflow see that thing in the reef
with the two sets of teeth
that's a moray~

when the jaws open wide
and there's more jaws inside
that's a moray~

@whitequark i have a marine biology degree and am frequently miffed at things that have "fish" in the name that are not strictly (teleost) fish. teleost fish are in part defined by having a jaw structure.
@fae no degree but sameish reason i thought about fish jaws
@fae @whitequark sounds like you're qualified to give us a fish alignment chart
@misterdave @whitequark
this is the best my eepy brain can do right now, need to have a ponder / fact check when more awake meow
@whitequark lampreys are probably jealous of jawed fish
